1What are Skills?

AI Skills are the modern replacement for the giant one-off prompt. Instead of pasting an 800-word instruction block into every session, you install a Skill once and invoke it by name ("use the Contract Review Skill on this doc"). The Skill's instructions, examples, and supporting files stay consistent across sessions, teammates, and even AI providers.

The format is simple by design: a folder with a SKILL.md file describing what the Skill does, plus any supporting files it references (voice samples, checklists, code templates, sample outputs). Any MCP-compliant AI client can load and invoke Skills; the same Skill file works on Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Cline, Continue, and others.

Every Skill in this directory has been installed, tested against real work, and documented by our editorial team. Each Skill page includes: what it does, when to use it, example inputs and outputs, provider-specific quality notes, and a downloadable ZIP with all the supporting files. All 207 Skills are free.

5How to use Skills

  1. Pick a category that matches your recurring task — the featured Skill on each hub is usually the best starting point.
  2. Read the individual Skill page before installing. Understanding what a Skill expects as input saves confusion later.
  3. Download the Skill's ZIP, unpack into your client's Skills folder (path varies per client — each Skill page has instructions).
  4. Test it once on a small example to confirm setup. Only then use it on real work.
  5. Combine Skills with MCP servers for full workflows — a Skill defines the how; MCP servers give the AI access to your actual tools and data. Our Server directory has 104 servers tested for this.

6Frequently asked questions

A Skill is a portable, versioned set of instructions plus supporting files (voice samples, checklists, examples) packaged so an AI assistant can invoke it consistently. Prompts are one-off text you type into a chat; Skills are reusable specialists you install once and invoke by name. Skills give you consistency across sessions and teammates; prompts give you flexibility for one-off tasks. Best practice is to use both: Skills for recurring workflows, prompts for ad-hoc questions.
Yes. Every Skill in this directory is provider-agnostic — the instructions and supporting files work identically whether you're using Claude Opus 4.7, GPT-5, Gemini 3 Pro, Mistral, DeepSeek, or a local model. Where a specific provider is noticeably better or worse at a Skill, we note it on that Skill's page with our test data.
Yes, all Skills in this directory are free to download and use. You pay for your AI provider's usage (Claude, GPT, Gemini, etc.), but the Skill files themselves are free. Attribution is appreciated but not required. Modifications and adaptations are welcome — that's the point of a portable format.
Download the Skill's ZIP file from its page. Follow the installation instructions specific to your AI client (Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Cline, and others each have their own Skill folder location). Most Skills install in under a minute; the individual Skill page walks through it step by step for each client.
Start with the category that matches your most-common repetitive task. If you write a lot: Content Creation or Document Creation. If you code: Development & Code. If you're in operations: Business Operations. If you're building agent workflows: Custom Workflows. Every category page shows featured picks so you can see the highlights fast.
