DMCA Policy

How to submit a copyright takedown notice if you believe content on this Site infringes your work — and how the counter-notice process works.

Last updated August 15, 2026

Overview

Skills and Servers respects the intellectual property rights of others. If you believe content on this Site infringes your copyright, please send us a takedown notice using the procedure below and we will act promptly.

This policy is issued under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA"). Similar procedures apply for notices from other jurisdictions (EU, UK, Canada, Australia); the format and information required is broadly the same.

How to send a takedown notice

Email legal@skillsandservers.com with the subject line DMCA Takedown. Your notice must include:

  1. Your full legal name, mailing address, telephone number, and email address.
  2. A physical or electronic signature (a typed name in the email is acceptable if you write "I sign this notice electronically").
  3. Identification of the copyrighted work you claim is being infringed — the original work, not just the alleged copy.
  4. The exact URL(s) on skillsandservers.com where the allegedly infringing material is located.
  5. A statement, made in good faith, that you believe the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law.
  6. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorised to act on the owner's behalf.
Warning: Under US law (17 U.S.C. §512(f)), knowingly making a false or misleading takedown notice can result in liability for damages, including costs and attorneys' fees. Please only submit a notice for content you own or represent.

What happens after we receive a valid notice

Once we receive a notice that meets the requirements above:

  1. We remove or disable access to the allegedly infringing material, usually within 3 business days.
  2. We notify the person or team who posted the material (if identifiable — for editorial content this is one of our researchers) and provide them a copy of your notice.
  3. We keep a record of your notice and our action.

Counter-notice procedure

If material you posted was taken down and you believe the removal was mistaken or the use is fair, you may send a counter-notice to legal@skillsandservers.com. A counter-notice must include:

  1. Your full name, address, telephone number, and email.
  2. Your physical or electronic signature.
  3. Identification of the removed material and the URL where it previously appeared.
  4. A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  5. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district in which your address is located, or (if outside the US) any judicial district in which we may be found, and that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original notice.

If we receive a valid counter-notice we will forward it to the original complainant. If the complainant does not file a lawsuit within 10–14 business days seeking a court order against the material's poster, we may restore the material.

Repeat infringers

We reserve the right to permanently ban users, contributors, or IP addresses that we determine — in our sole discretion — to be repeat copyright infringers.
